The Kingdom of God

Last night we re-capped and chatted about what Neil shared with us on Sunday out of 2 Corinthians 5:11-21. Here are some thoughts that came out of this passage:

1. God has reconciled us to Himself. We are all new creations in Christ Jesus. The old has gone and the new has come. (2 Cor. 5:17) What a great miracle!
2. All of this is God’s idea, and His doing. (2 Cor. 5:18)
3. God has committed to us (all of us, young and old, new Christian and old Christian) this message of reconciliation. (2 Cor. 5:19)
4. We are Christ’s ambassadors. (2 Cor. 5:20)
5. Then Paul ends of with what has been termed “The Great Exchange” where Jesus first becomes and then defeats sin for us, and we become the righteousness of God.

Paul was motivated by two things:

1. His fear of the Lord (2 Cor. 5:9-11)
2. Christ’ love (2 Cor. 5:14)

We ended our evening off by praying for each other, that we would have the boldness and the courage to face our fears (fear of man, fear of failure, fear or embarrassment), that we would learn what it is to fear the Lord, and the each of us would have a revelation of Christs’ love.

Next week we’re going to start our meeting off by sharing how God has worked through us as His ambassadors.
